Hi Brian,

Can you share some information regarding the challanges you faced while migrating Test Assets from Quality Center to Quality Manager?

If possible, also let us know if you used any specific tools or methos in the process.

Regards,
Rajesh K.

Our strategy with version control is to enable version control in the tool that owns (ie: where you create and store) the assets. Example: Rational Quality Manager owns the test plan and test cases, so version control for those assets is in RQM. Rational Functional Tester and Rational Performance Tester own the test script assets, so version control for test scripts resides in those tools. You have full check in/check out ability through an integration to ClearCase.

Hi Brian,

I'm very interested in seeing how RQM will evolve in a near future. Do you have an idea if test script versioning is a feature planned for the next release? I think this feature is really lacking in RQM. It would enable a tester to check in/check out a test script like in HP Quality Center where previsous versions can be stored and baselined.

Regards,
Romuald

Good insight into the benefits of dynamic filtering and hierarchical views of assets. This helped me better understand the advantages.

With the commercial open development concept, everything that can be made public is posted on the http://jazz.net site. The development team is always working towards milestones, but new milestones can be added if the product is not in a state that is fit for delivery. Adding milestones, of course, pushes out release dates. At this point, the most current information is that RQM 2.0 is planned for the 3rd Quarter of 2009. I can also confirm this was the date that was given during the Rational Software Conference in early June.
